There are times in this world where we feel like we are ‘least’, and there are times when we find ourselves as ‘last’. There are times when we don’t force ourselves over others to ‘get ahead’ – but God has given us vision.
And the view that He has given us, is Jesus.
And somehow, we have the strength and courage to … wait. And we hear His word speak, “Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage. And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!” Ps. 27:14.
This is hard because everything keeps moving so fast all around and it seems that everyone has possession of great things and that we have possession of nothing! But that is not true! We may feel like we have been ‘passed over’ in this life – but Jesus makes it quite clear,
that ‘in Him’ we have possession NOW of what we need most – life now , and life forever and ever! Somehow, in the whirlwind, the Holy Spirit quiets all that is inside, and begins to sing an old song : “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” Suddenly there is stillness that quiets our anxious hearts, saying, “Be Still and know…”
(and His voice is heard so clearly), “I assure you,” He speaks, “most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words – who listens to My message – and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. “
“And he does not come into judgement – does not incur sentence of judgement, will not come under condemnation – but he has already passed over out of death into life.” (John 5:24, Amplified).
We may have been ‘passed over’ at times in this world, but Jesus himself reminds us what we’ve really been ‘passed over’ from – judgement, condemnation and death! We’ve been ‘passed over’ out of death …
and into life!”
There is always reason to ‘give thanks to the Lord,’ for HE IS GOOD! Giving thanks this Thanksgiving that we’ve been ‘passed over out of death into life!’ (John 5:24).
And Jesus, He knows what it’s like to ‘passed over’: “Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus – Let Him be your example in humility – Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained;
But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity] so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
And after He had appeared in human form He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of [the] cross!
Therefore [because He stooped so low], God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knew should (must) bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Phil. 2:6-11.
We’ve just got to keep our vision – may our vision be Jesus.
