Today, again, I am reposting what I have written about a man who prayed, loved God, and on Sept 11, 2001 thought he was simply going to work, just like any other ordinary day. But we all know, in NYC, this was no ordinary day. And today, I believe we live in a time that is not ‘ordinary’, it is an ‘evil day’ in which we who say we love God, must show up at work, or school, or serve from our kitchens and ‘love others’ into the Kingdom by showing others God’s Provision in His Son. So again, I post an incredible story of a man who on this day, 13 years ago shared the ‘Truth’ and many, many were set free into life eternal in heaven where there is no death: Remembering Al Braca, a time when there was no debate.
Today our world is filled with trouble, chaos, sirens, anxiety, information – everywhere, and much debate.
But I can tell you a story where there was probably no debate.
It was on September 11, 2001. There was a man named Alfred J. Braca who simply went to work – 4th story from the top of one of the World Trade Center buildings. In a moment, in that building there was…trouble, chaos, sirens, anxiety, and… not a lot of information anywhere and the only debate was whether to stay put or to get out.
And for the men and women on those upper floors, there was no way out.
But, you see, Al Braca, 4th story from the top, went into one of the big conference rooms and it is told, that everyone was informed to bring anyone they could find, into the conference room.
He had information, for such a time as this. It is told that he was there with approx. 50 of his co-workers.
Al Braca was a child of God. How do I know? Because “as many as received Him (Jesus Christ), to them He gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12. It’s not just that Al Bracca went to the same church I did, it’s that Al had a moment in his life where he saw his emptiness and sin and he had made a decision to receive Jesus into his life.
Al Braca knew the forgiveness of God and salvation in His name. How “God had demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.
So, on that morning of September 11, 2001, this child of God had information, so he stood up on a Conference table
at a time when ‘their flesh had no rest, they were troubled on every side. Outside there were conflicts, inside were fears’, But Al Braca had the message they all needed to hear, right at that moment in time, ‘Nevertheless God’…the Bible speaks these words in 2 Corinthians 7:6,and this is what was going on then, to say the least, but the rest of the verse goes like this,
“Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus…,” well on this day, comfort came, not through Titus, but through a man named Al, (and probably many others, I just don’t know their stories,) because Al had the Good News and this was a desperate moment and they all knew that they needed …
a Savior – because there was no way out.
I don’t think that at this time he was worried about offending anyone, or having political correctness! This was not the time –
So Al brought them a message of life everlasting-
the Gospel message, most here in America have heard it at least once in their life, but their ears were open now, and their hearts were ready.
I don’t know the exact words that he shared, but he told them about Jesus -how Jesus Christ came to this world and died on the cross to pay the debt that we all owe for our sin. He paid it in full, because of His love for us, and He rose from the dead. He did it all, He did all the work of salvation, we simply need to call on Him and believe Hid did. I am sure that in some way Al explained that Jesus is alive and desires that all shall come to believe in Him.
Al Braca was ‘not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16.
The big question then, because time is short, is
“What must I do do to be saved?” Acts. 16:30.
Al Bracca knew the answer,
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,…” Acts. 16:31.
We do not know the exact words that he spoke, but we know that the people responded.
How many people on that day were just like the criminal hanging on the cross next to Jesus. The criminal who said to Jesus,
“Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Luke 23:42
Do you remember how Jesus responded?
‘And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you,
today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23:43.
How did this story get told in the first place? Because many of the men and woman that met in that conference room that morning, made phone calls to their families and told them. They not only said, “Good-by, I love you,” but they were able to say, “I will see you again soon.
I’m going to heaven to be with Jesus. I will be waiting for you.”
There are times when there is no debate.
Alfred Braca was like Jesus that day,
“Having loved His own which were in the world, He loved them until the end.” John 13:1.
He knew the Truth, and proclaimed it from the conference room that day. When,’outside there were conflicts, inside there were fears, Nevertheless God comforted the downcast.’
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God,
believe also in Me. “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”John 14:1,2.
I think the original memorial that was made of two lights shining straight up to heaven is the one that speaks of all those that called on the name of Jesus that most dark day. Thank you Al Braca for being a witness to the light of Christ, that many had opportunity to receive the everlasting life that He continually has to offer.
But for us today, let us live our lives ‘ready’ to ‘love others’ into the Kingdom of Heaven! People today don’t need religion, oh no, there are religions out there that in the name of their god they kill and destroy- today, people need to know that God loves them and desires ‘relationship’. Yes, God, the Creator of the Universe has provided the escape to all this chaos, His name is Jesus. Today let us love others enough to take courage and tell them, “Jesus loves you and He has paid all your debt – call on His name and you will be saved, forgiven and SET FREE to have life, and that more abundantly!”
